Removal and Disposal of Water Treatment System

Eastern PennsylvaniaCommercial

BERM was retained to assist a customer with the removal, cleaning, and disposal of a small water treatment system and the accompanying apparatus. Several stainless steel holding and mixing tanks with pumps and piping needed to be removed and cleaned of remaining chemical prior to disposal. All units were disconnected and confirmed out-of-service following OSHA guidelines, including lock out/tag out procedures, and then disassembled for easy handling. Recovered residual salts were containerized for disposal and a power washer was utilized to clean tanks and piping. Wash water was containerized separately for disposal. The clean metal tanks and piping were transported to a certified metal reclamation facility while all generated wastes were characterized, and then shipped for disposal to a permitted Part B hazardous waste facility (TSDF) for disposal.
